During our North Pacific voyages, we were able to share multimedia content during both legs of our North Pacific journey, including from the North Pacific gyre… 800 miles from land!

This played an important role in sharing our story in real time, through media interviewsour blog and social media channels. The ability to hold telephone conversations, send text, images and video content was a game changer in our level of communication, particularly during the first leg when the crew was so far from land.
It was made possible through communication solutions provided by Iridium and Global Marine Networks (GMN), so we wanted to tell you a bit more about them!
Iridium is the only mobile voice and data satellite communications network that spans the entire globe. GMN is the leader in advancing satellite data speeds and services like satellite email, satellite phone internet, and satellite data optimisation. These two organisations partnered to ensure we were connected for every step of our voyage and supported us by amplifying our message and reach.
Both businesses are driven to support projects that are working to make a positive impact, and we were delighted that they choose to support our eXXpedition North Pacific journey this summer.
